Nichelle florida restyled

Almost six months later, after purchasing this doll, she is still my only Nichelle beauty...
I enjoyed redressing and making clothes for her - she has unusual, realistic and strong face - a bit more mature than what Mattel made us used to...
I love how her turquoise studs are contrasting with warm colouring of her skin...blue eye-shadow and orangey eyes are a bit tricky tho...

Here she is with her new (slightly colour coordinated) friends...

ready steady go!

 picturesque weed?.. lets go...

tbc

she will soon rock two more stylings...

Stroll by campus' broads

Today a mini reportage from a little outing my restyled charity shop lucky find did. Horse-riding, auburn-hazelnut hair colored Superstar beauty in my favorite, peacock-petrol colour scheme...
The location is once again UEA boardwalk along its broads...

She i swearing deep purple weekend chinos, fancy yet simple Indian silk top, deep emerald scarf, sapphire bag and boots from Livs collection and a hat (which turned out to be unnecessary in this lovely  weather) just as the purple cardigan;-)

Few control fashion shoots...

and off we go
 oh the annoying disobeying hair...
..it just hit me - i need to compare her eye make-up with the Hollywood-Nails one...
oh what a great face in the best colours ever dear Superstar!

exploring the natural world and being pensive;-)

and  a portrait in above mentioned hat..

and a bonus one with a Giant! LOL

Hair society

Today one of my far sessions.. VidalSasoon would be proud or something.
Two of my vintage raven-black beauties after spa and frenetic brushing - restyled and strolling outside

(Jewel Hair Marmaid Christie 1996 and Sun Jewel Kira 1993)

now, six months later I see she needs more hair-conditioning;-)
Here is Kira in her glory... far far away from a sparkly beach doll
Her hair is of amazing quality and highlights are very well done!

here they are together rocking huge eyes and bigger than life hair (and beyond vintage clothes)...

ohhhh <3

Benetton Barbie - reinterpretation

Today a little story about how I discovered yet another dimension of doll collecting - re-creating their original clothes...or reinterpreting in quite a post-modern manner...

I love the idea of 80's Benetton dolls but got a little bit disenchanted when holding bold sapphire but empty eyed Barbie from bootsale. I though she can oly make sense in her original context and esthetics - slightly kitchy and over the top but unusually 'covered' and in basic colours...

I started with choice of materials in the appropriate colour palette..

floral jersey for legings, yellow-mustard sweater for top, red pullover for jacket and a trim...
(blurry picture from overexcitement possibly)
then i have completed cosy dress with a turtle neck, ethno belt and felt hand-sewn hat:-)
super proud of this one as i did it in a first take
than leg warmers...
old new doll is taking shape;-)
/oh the vintage bubbage../

It took me some time to finally sit and make a jacket - i used pre-loved hubby's sweater and simulated the trim with two shades of blue wool stitched with colorful threads:-)
Very satisfied with this very pleasant process!

Official New Old Benetton Barbie 2016:
 long sleeve masking deformed palm;-)
and my fav of them all - promo pic:-)

it's been so much fun that i have thoughts of using one of my (too many) Christies as a Benetton friend at some point in future...
