my doll collection vol. 7 & 8

the next two dolls might be an actual begenning of collection.
I got them in my teens - first ones i was never playing with - just to adore, dress and posess ;-)
they still are embodiment of my dream fasion doll.
looking more like me - with natural, sun kissed brown hair.
not being soooo pink... and first of all - something very unussual in early 90s -
green and purple eyes, again, with vey natural make-up.

Sindy doll has quite an impresive history too (1963),and yay! its English :-)
you can read history (((here))).
"Sindy's "girl next door" look made her more popular than Barbie in Britain" sais it all.

here are my deer-eyed beauties:

and here they are in oryginal packaging/outfits:

My doll Collection vol.6

this is a really interesting one...
again... as I hunt for unusual and 'ethnic' editions, while paying for below mentioned 'grandma' doll
i have noticed some 'dolls of colour'.
It turned out to ba a whole family of 4 with clothes and accessories!
Nordic Market seller in Luxembourg said these are her old dolls,
like 30 years old, but she still sold them really cheap! (not that i am such a good player LOL)
They have pretty used hair and seriously 'loose' legs but i love them!

look look!

bebe nr 1 with accessories!

bebe nr 2 - look into those eyes!!

 papa

 parents

took me some time again to find this is supposed to be african-american edition of
"Sunshine Family" dolls by Mattel...
Cannot find exact edition of my dolls but here is interesting blog post about them with some pics:

cool!

My doll collection vol.5

Today few words about another doll I am really enjoying.
I love unusual editions -tis one not only she is not a platinum blonde pink princes -
she had rather short hair, completely unique face...
I was so surprised finding her in a stash at garage/boot sale (Nordic market) in Luxembourg.

 close-up by me w/ glasses

styled by me with a hand-made kimono blouse and vintage beads necklace (after my childhood barbies)

look at those great small breasts and natural waist  perfection!

took me sometimes to find out she is not a tv character but just a "grandma"
(sure good looking one!) from Happy Family series...

my models / doll collection, vol. 4

As an ethnograper and folkore lover I definitely have a soft spot for dolls in
traditional / regional / ethnic editions.
This one is a Polish Barbie Doll. She is wearing costume from region of Cracow /which happens to be a national one/ - the city where I come from :-)
She has classic Barbie face and smile but I am really enjoying
her pale carnation and bloody red lips... She also has a very simple make-up for her era.

with her folk blonde girlfriends;-)

and official (1998)

My models pt. 2

I got her in second-hand / charity shop back when i used to live in Stockholm. It was a huge basket full of dolls and I am afraid to think what really could be there if I only know what to look for;-) then...
She was the first doll I have bought to myslef as an adult - she made me realise how much I love these, how much change in technology and style happend ince 80/90s... and for the first time I have used the on-line resources to identify the doll... Pandora's box it was...

Look at these amazing long and fiery red hair... lifelike eye lashes... and full lips...

here, she is wearing a hand crocheted necklace and
hand-made sky-blue cotton and tulle t-shirt by roroDolls.

...and uh well... purple legs and wings moving mechanism.

She turned out to be a Lenara Fairytopia Lavender Wonder Fairy Barbie Doll 2004.

Here she is with all the accessories:
and in a box:
