Vintage Barbie

The thing about me collecting dolls is that I seem to dislike the collectibles.
The perfect, boxed and untouchable dolls are beyond boring to me.. I didn't like my spinning ballerina neither...

When I dug this one out from a pile of dolls with a poker face, like 'she is no different to the other blondes you have and rather old' and I payed 50 p for her...

I felt great satisfaction, especially that her  ski jacket and horse-riding pants are from the epoque too...
I love how perfectly her 70's pace, look and coloring is but, apparently, historic thrill is not enough - I had no idea for this tanned blonde at all!

My dolls, nr 83

What can I say...weekends before going on holidays and obligatory doll rehab were rather intense and for some ironic reason terribly fruitful...
super charming mini Blythe, Malibu Barbie!, Swan Lake Teresa, lovely Ghulia, 10" Disney articulated Aurora, Asha who is today's nr 83, Liv in full outfit and two dolly surprises growing hair.
Plus - XIX cent books bought from house clearance, nice clothes 50 p each, bag bionics for my son and last but not least Monster High furniture I haggled for...

Two carboot sales are too much excitement in a heat...had to call hubby to pick me up by car with a sandwich delivery LOL

Today I will (try to ) focus on my new Asha doll. She comes from blanket thrown on a concrete but nicely bagged for safety and hygiene. Opening is stitched cleverly with pink wool. To my surprise, despite having no shoes, this doll has complete and clean outfit with a tiny velvet handbag and her hat still attached to head <3 - all this for £1.50...

Her make-up is amazing, very-berry dark and much like Hollywood Nails (to my liking) - she is wearing very characteristic gown-coat in burgundy velvet...

I did not know at the time, but she is 'obviously' Christmas Victorian Iceskater by AVON 2000.

The basic, caucasian version had Mackie face and they came with a stand and red doll skates....

Skirt is unfortunately attached to a coat.
The coat is nicely asymmetrical with some draping on a back.

first glimpse through the foil... <3

I had ambitious christmas and wintery plans but mini session in my backyard (in pyjamas - before it melts!) is everything I could squeeze out of English winter...

and some pretentious sepia of course...
I have cheeky plan to restyle her for a twin session with HolywoodNails...
will she how and when it goes!

My doll nr 82

Back on 02.07.16 I had yet another of 'the best' ever bootsales...
as you can see pictured below...

on a right side vintage goodies from somebody's house clearance - tablecloth embroidered with many pupil's names and amazing marine, yet linen, summer baggy dress.

Then Kenner cherry baby and Mattel's funky doll -- multicoloured burgundy hair to die for...
Ponny for my kids - because now I can buy then too - for them;-) + more magnets
and Mattel kids (for resale) - dressed and 20p each!

At that time I was doing my carboot sales aloe - alarm clock set for 6.45 on Sunday, by 7.20 I was already biking through lovely green valley - previously a railroad to green muddy field full of goodies... by 9 I was at the other one  - on P&R site:-). Home by ten, cycling some good kilometers while coming back via campus...

My doll nr 82 came to me last minute... I saw her while buying this bunch of kids but was mislead by her pink princess dress. Was going to leave but gave her a second look - she had burgundy curly hair and olive skin...seriously - what I am wondering about at all... at this point I only had 75p in my wallet but I think lady knows me at this point;-)

She has make-up which reminds me of MyScene Chelsea to be honest...but I love the purple lips. Braided detail on hair is pretty nice too:

With great help of my doll's forum I identified her as a one unusual doll:
American Idol Barbie SIMONE

There was a blond and a ginger version and flexi aka hatchback version.
Mine I presume is borderline hispanic / AA and, luckly has a regular belly button body.

They came with extra outfit and many accessories...

Exciting! but again took me over 6 months to get back to her...
Here she is sporting - not so much - her damaged princes dress...

after freeing her from the fluffy pinkness I have found this two sided tape leftovers, hmmmm
hair free again, processed with conditioners and softeners...
...and a quick eye colour fix;-P
few weeks later she got to model her first contemporary roro-fashion.

sorry, session was super quick and a stylist must have been on holidays....

My Dolls, nr 81 (and 9 more;-)

On 17.07.17 I received a nice and heavy box hiding one of the dolls from my rather modest 'wishlist' - A doll with rooted eyelashes, looking aside and Lea mold - Makeup Chick Lea from 2005. I saw her re-bodied and photographing so well...so when I saw her in $7 set with Superstars I was determined to win the auction.

This is how they were photographed - you can see nothing so I had few nice surprises;-)
Lea looks as if she has dreadlocks

on top of this wrapping foil mountain I've found free California Barbie shorts times 3!
Each doll came nicely wrapped in bubble foil so it was fun to go through the box...

First emerged this tanned, shiny blondie in baby pink.
I really wanted to ignore all these 'old pre-loved superstars' but curiosity and sentiment won...
Her characteristic light but dated make-up helped me to identify her as

oh what a heartbreaker! Additionally she is wearing genuine 2000 Fashion Fever Lea's mini dress!

I curled her hair and keep her in a mass box not being able to sell her just yet;-)

nr 2 was another very familiar doll - platinum blonde, tanned but with super dark eyebrows. I am totally convinced one of my friend's had her...

she seems to be Riviera doll from 1989
nr 3 is a poor baby mermaid,
even my daughter doesn't want her despite cotton candy pink hair and shiny dress, pfff)

nr 4 turned out to be interesting too... green make-up and confusing (and teared) princess dress
bend elbows and a hole after ring always gets my attention...
at least three dolls have electric green eyeshadow, single bottom eyelash and funny green triangle on iris... Capri 1990, Cool Looks 10090 and Cute and Cool Barbie 1991;-)

...but there was always one element missing...to my great delight the matching doll turned out to be fancy and highly desirable Western Fun 1989 - can you even believe it! I am somewhat very happy and my inner child finds peace;-) Her hair are in a sad state but, ohhh...

nr 5 is wearing funny cotton maiden / housekeeper strippy dress with a white apron (and old metal nap)...she has a lovely huuuge eyes and indigo-emerald make-up..I ma still not 100% sure who she is
somewhere in between on Dress&Fun 93 (Bali Barbie?) but the eyeshadow is barely visible...

nr 6 is a crapy Aurora by Simba. She has a nice mold and hair bit terrible make-up and cheap dress with plastic supporting the skirt..

nr 7 is an interesting Sindy Mermaid. I'm trying to sell her but no one wants her - considering rebodying her and befriending with my brunettes;-)
There turned out to be few mermaid editions and quite a few dolls (ice skater, ballerina) wearing this plastic flower wreath (attached for ever). There was a turquoise edition as well...

nr 8 is yet another Riviera Barbie, with shortened hair this time, wearing some vintage genuine outfit I keep seeing online (my moxie looks great in it actually - very girly).
nr 9 is some early fashionista I do not wish to identify. She has jointed elbows and knees, smoky eyes and quite well done bangs.. I have sold her head tho, kept body for later and oversized blouse is just perfect for my Paris Williams (10")
LAST BUT NOT LEAST - the reason of this old doll's carnival;)

Make-up Chic Lea 2005

She is missing some lipstick and her hands are chewed, but I already have a new body for her as she is a fab model!
Here she is as a new doll. To my surprise she is still wearing her original dress and 12 years later her hair is pulled back by the original elastic. Poor girl:-(

and yes..there are three more elegant dolls with a side glance and eyelashes...(and many accessories)

Barbie totally dull, but Teresa and AA are to die for (hairclips!)...

one day...
