My doll nr 33

...following previous post I will present my other vintage classic beauty from That Box...
She aswell looked like something I never witesed before - straight arms but piercing blue eyes with kind of a cog shaped iris AND funny, a bit risen eyebrows. Fringe - I always dreamed about...

very retro looking earrings are not original and when i heated head with water - they turned out to be dressmakers pins - which confused me a lot when 'identifying'...

I used wonderful Italian page Barbieworld - there were at least three dolls looking similar (but only one with bangs). Lunarh confirmed again...

tres dolly looking is she: 'My First Barbie 1984'

in her original outfit (no thank you)
other's were 'My first Barbie' from 1980 and 'Fabolours Fur' 1983

Here's how she looks over 30 years later in an improvised, temporary lace little thing:

 very healthy Blonde again...
(oh I love my new camera:-)
...I guess they an see more Superstars on horizon comming in near future...

My doll nr 32

...and now for something completely different...
Today we will have a first look into myslightly legendary Swedish bag of dolls...
I have visited my former hometown (two hometowns ago) this February just for one day. As it was around my birthday, well sort of I stated that, yes i will be beuying dolls secondhand;-)

First place that i have visited welcomed me with three ikea storage boxes full of nude and clothed (bagged) dolls... I freaked out...none of them was really an 'ethnic doll' but then I started to see fashionistas (I started to read blogs regularly so had dirty thoughts about 'donors' and clothes reselling...)...there were gingers, some rooted eyelashes, vintage Sindies, 80 Barbes is full set of clothes, god know what but i got overhelmed and kids went nuts...

The doll I am presenting today was bought for a resale - the 'strange' quality of her vinyl, plastic and hair as well as rather minimal and natural make-up made me think she is older than she is... she had little toes on her legs and really retro looking yellowish blonde...
She might not be the treasure of seventies but its been literaly ages since I held 30 years old Superstar... its bitter sweet - how great is the priogress in thechnology of doll production but sad how plastic, hairline and doll-like objects of my childchood desire really look now...

Thanks to wonderful blog of Lunarh (in Polish) I cought the bug of purple-eyed superstars and she was the one how helped me identify her (noe jewelry).

Straight from shop she looked like that:

classic blonde chrm is undeniable I'm afraid...
She is a Dream Date Barbie 1982
(also Fruhlingszauberg Barbie 1983 but I won't elaborate on that)

There you go - box shot of her in her (previous) glory:

sequins and diamond earrings, oh!

Now after serious spa (in fabric softener...geting realy good at this you know) she got this minimal improvised session in (vintage wrapped) whites, enjoy!

my childchood doll's pearls made of extended Fleur's wedding necklace...

  broken neck, shuuush

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT POST... ---->

My doll No 31

The day has come - I have reached the bottom of my famous ebay box of brunettes...
Here she is one of teh bestest in my collection up to this day...
Really dark skin, natural afro hair /well done Mattel!/, red lips!, brown eyes! and very neutral make-up. It was the first time ever when I held this kind of 'puppet' Barbie body...

basically twist'n'turn but with bending elbows and fun hair
(sorry for an untreated mark on a cheek)

At the time it was somehow difficult for me to identify her despite the hair...i was too confused with Christie, Asha, Nichelle, Nikki thing vs. Black Barbie to type he right keywords...

They are so beautifuly different - it's confusing:-)

Mine had kind of blue glasses, more like snow goggles but it is obvously not about ski Barbie... I'm still not sure if they are protecting her in the lab or when she is making grafitti???

This is how she looked in her box:

...some cool accessories, down vest, backpack and fancy silver mini dress for after work:-)

Here she is enjoying her new life, her new roro-made blouse and her new found sister!!!

What a joy - different color scheme, different ind of hair n the same face mold <3

My Dolls, nr 30

I thought why not...IRL I am having a bit of Fleur/Sindy moments - i'll make my mini collecton anniversary (nr 30) doll a non-Mattel one then:-)

Please meet my only Fleur doll in the collection so far / somehow!
she is not my orignal childchood dool but I got/rescued her from one of my junior school besties /in early teens/ as she had lots of everythung and/but/because of daddy in US...

here she is in my very-vintage-Other-dolls
wearing night gown /handmade by my aunt from her own petite coat in front of my very own eyes/ for time of her doll retirement...

By the time i got her i was told by other set of friends that one can make eyelashes from an old photo film - wchich i did immidiatelly. Doll had silly hairline so I have made my first OOAK without knowing that - using her own her, mostely, but I am not 100% sure... its hand-sown and secured with sewing pins, ouch!

I asked my Dutch friends how Feur market is looking...its busy and well saturated...I would take a dip if I wasn't so overstimulated locally, so to speak...

I would imagine she looked something like that when new (which is highly probable as 'i know her from somewhere' feeling kcks in):

at last but not least my latest discovery I am not alowed to give too much thought tho;-)
Liv doll wigs fit perfectly vintage Fleur and Sindy dolls... lover it!

Fleur dolls

I am still rather documenting than updating (damn you chronologcal order) but lets take a shourt break from Mattel...

In England, where I live now she is perceived as an continental cousin of Sindy doll - similar body type, rubberband mechanics, looking aside dolly eyes with eyelashes and 'round' face...
From my perspective as Polish growing up in 80s/90s she was the main opponent of Barbie on our market as I see it. There were some serious playgroud doll wars... is Fleurs head rediculously huge or is Barbie kitchy pink whore...
My parents followed the first line - and it makes sense - Fleur is a dolly for smaller kids kind of... her (of so vintage) clothes were red, brown and box was green... I still think 80's Superstar is microheaded plastic candy but oh all those shades of pinks, golden and silver, glowing dresses... outworldy golden locks and blue eyes (nothing like my family) - the glow of free western world - the hihs and lows of 80s fashion.

Fleurs from my childhood didn't made it somehow and i believe they were played very hard...
I had brunette but she was inherited and with a bad hair /i seriously cannot remember circumstances/ and I clearly can recall owning golden blond Ballerina... this is copletely sensational... she is wearing all pink and i was attending dance school at the time you know! (for 7 years i mean)

I have carcases of these clothes but somehow forgot about existence of warmers and towel...

Internet helps you refresh your memories in a wonderful way...while watching old pictures on Pinterest I have recognised a lot of genuine outfits I had è most probably from my half-sister - i'll need to thank her...

Here are pictures of these clothes...they were travelling between households i guess (like this red and yellow set)... but i do remember owning original brides gown, leather set, pink canvas set... just wonderful...

when i saw this picture everything came back to me so vividly!

oh... enjoy much more ((((here))))

Bottom of the internetZ

We all have those afternoons filled with procrastination, these nights filled with surfing internet instead of plains of our bedsheets... its only worse if you are doll collector addicted to ebay, blogs and like MORE doll pictures;-)

On rampages like that I quite often seem to get to bottom of the internetz... some auction's pictures are so bad they are perfect, so accidental that they almost tell the story - I copy them and keep in WTF folder... time to share few of these:

this one looks familiar (no pun intended)

 peaches and cream going wrong

bunch of wasted stylish dudes...
a lot of nude blondes in order - always creepy

 exciting and unexpected mix

yes! toy story

it was a good party

circle of friends or all stars?

georgeous dolls but this pony and abandined purse?

lost in space and time

highs and lows... how this Teresa ends up with translucent clones???

this is a great movie I believe...
