Mbili and Matilda

...and now for something completely different...
some of my doll dressmaking experiments - experiments not because they are innovative but because I have no time to think about them - I just make them designing as doll and fabric tells me;-) - ou can call it spontanious and creative LOL but its just a mess and kids knocking to the door;-)

here is Mbili (Princess of South Africa 2002) wearing embroidered top and raw silk skirt:

definitely one of the best faces in my (not-so-published) 'collection'!

Here she is wearing a gift for 5yo
- a hand-made stripped dress with tulle skirt and sequined application:

so even if non-blondes and Queens of Color are your thing it's still all about sequins and tulle:-P

more details:
and yes, Peacock is my fav color range so brace yourselves:-°

Sisters

In a mean time - some modelling.

This Photo session is waiting to be published for quite some time as its a part of New Years action - brush and dress all your boxed surivors...

I already presented my Esmeralda here
I got her doubled thanks to some good old time ebay.de lot from my hubby...
My heart is great, room not so small and their bangs were tortured in a completely different styles;-)

It might never happen to me again but having twin sisters as models ads a nice flavour to it...
Now I'm a bit fussy about their TnT bodies and stiff lifeless hands /but yay, red panties/yet I love to resyle these kitchy /Disney!/ ones and dress them in my textiles and my colours...

This stylisation is a rather careless and quick one. These hand-made dresses are made by me in mid-late 90s i guess /before highschool/ yet some of the fabrics are pre-war - like this brown, hand-painbted silk from an old and super scary lady living next door at my childchood villa!!! or vintage - like this golden yarn my Mul used to crochet into her minimal Hippie top:-) No shoes, sorry...

And Sis selfie - these two need to start their own Instagram account, don't you think ?
..I definitelly need to work on their hair in futer

Doll No 21

Hello again.

Tonite few wordsand first photos of yet another survivor and extra from my ebay batch. She started a little avalange of gingers renegotiating frames of my "not-a-collection";-)

BTW! This chronological order is killing me btw...I have had 4 amazing finds at boot sale two weekends ago, then I had liek 3 accidental /believe me!/ wins on ebay and a lucky charity shop find (but its platinum + pink and i'm still strong enough to put her on ebay after some pleasant refreshing spa work).

She had very damaged and tangled hair - there is a serious loss... chewed hands and legs...
Yet again, first I really got intrigued investigating molds and trying to track her down and she has spent so much time on my desk I got really attatched...

Those small turquoise studs with strawberry hair and such a natural make-up is amazing...

Oh the sweet moments when your head explodes from all those Midges, Mackies and Steffies fo the world... /but you forget that Twist'n'Turn is an important indication:-P/

Anyway in the end I identified her as doll from 1999 Corduroy Cool series
and her face mold is obviously Mackie.
Colours are great, lovely late 90's mix of clothes yet stil very 'childish' and 'dollish' but slightly more fashionable and tastefull /I vividly remember wearing strips and courduroy myself!/

she used to have a deep plum purple tights...
...and a lovely friends with auburn/chesnut hair/!/ and greenn /!/ outfit...

I'd love to save one liek this sooo ver much

tbc.

ReRoot 2 and RePaint 1

So.. I got tempted..and then lucky...
I have found poor /hair-wide/ Bratz in charity shop /with feet-shoes though/.
You cannot harm them, you cannot make them uglier so I felt no guilt nor preassure;-)
Make-under of Bratz dolls is quite popular and well known practice in internetz...

 Mine looked like that:
close-up:
brown eyes, dark hair, lilac make-up..could be worse but still...

here she is without 'lipstic':-)
...necklace, tip, skull and hair;-)

and here hairless in first version of aquarel pencils make-over:

not bad at all for the first ever time but I have changed my mind...

got rid of the pale blue eyebrows /i planed frosty white hair/ and added eyelashes...
then changed my mind again /yay for pencils!/:

less is more even in fashion doll's world;-)

and finishing touches - nail varnish lip gloss /don't try this at home;-)/:
ta daaaah.
very happy:-)

My Dolls. No 20

Finally - my stash of e-bay survivors...
I'll start with the least favorite one...who has been sitting on my desk, waiting for transformation long enough to be quite admired in the end - but abut that later.

Oh dear... she was a poor well played doll, singing doll /annoying musical operetta girly voice/, cheesy baby blue satin necklace with heart and never ever ever brushed hair... I started to work on it without taking pictures...aged rubber bands, decorative braids with hair tangled around them oh, and a chewed hand...

 submerged...

 after Spa close-up

and Erika_full_nude as for now:-)

As I don't follow the market i needed to google her by the lyrics she sings and the necklace...
She turned out to be half of the duo of Anneliese and Erica Barbie Princes and the Pauper 2004...
Oh its just horrible - pastels, princesses, barbies, movie, plastic tiaras, commercial supermarket shit and stuff....

I amnot goint to reconstruct this one;-)
new in a box:

the good news is there was a cinnamon girl as well...

ReRooting take 1

oh the adventures in the world of dolls...
Inspired by all of you and the internetz I wanted to try rerooting.
I have chosen my poor charity shop pet doctor Barbie...

Trick with using a hairdryer to warm-up the vinyl did not work that well -compared to dipping in bowl of boiling water as I've found later... I have managed to break the dolls neck but it was cracked and heavely layed before I guess;-)

cutting hair and hooking the glue/roots was fun - very violent and physical tho.. I'd never do it to new from a box doll...not if you are a doll lover...

I didn't want to invest iny real doll hair so I played a bit with texture and colour...
always wanting not so cute and all pink Barbie i went for blue woolen dreadlock:-)

...with heighlights obviously. This is how it goes...
never ending story and i got stuck after first row tbh...
its a lot of work...

 TBC
hopefully
